The Local Government of Szászvár and the Baranya County Government Office are implementing the project as a consortium under the call for proposals titled “Liveable Communities” within the Regional and Urban Development Operational Programme Plus under the “Liveable Settlements” call for proposals, with the help of nearly 249.5 million forints in non-repayable European Union funding. The planned investments aim to renovate community recreational spaces that play a key role in the life of the town and are suitable for families, seniors, and young people to spend their free time in a meaningful way.
Thanks to its central location and multifunctional role, the Szászvár Village Hall serves as a key community space in the life of the village. As part of this project, the building will be renovated, beginning with a complete overhaul of the roof. A security camera system will be installed in the square in front of the Village Hall, and a smart bench will also be placed there. By planting grass in the Market Square, its function as a community space will also be ensured.
As venues for traditional rural community life, these locations provide opportunities for different generations to come together, thereby strengthening the cohesion of the local community. The development indirectly contributes to increasing Szászvár’s ability to retain its population, keeping young people in the area, and curbing out-migration. The program provides a space for younger generations, as the Youth Association will be able to return to its headquarters after the building’s restoration. The renovation contributes to the further development of local culture, supports the preservation and transmission of traditions, and fosters communication among cultural communities.
As part of the revitalization of the Village Hall, community spaces will be renovated, the roof will be repaired, and equipment will be purchased.
