
The goal of the TOP_PLUSZ-6.1.4-23-BA1-2024-00002 project, implemented as a consortium and focused on active tourism infrastructure, is to increase the region’s appeal for active tourism. In terms of developing the route network and related infrastructure, in addition to the planned construction of an observation deck, the goal is to increase the number of tourists, extend the length of stay, and strengthen the region’s reputation as a tourist destination.
The primary objective of the project is to showcase natural assets. The development will create an attraction of national significance and outstanding tourist value through the sustainable use of an existing natural asset for active and ecotourism purposes, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth and diversification of tourism in the region.
With regard to the specific objectives, it is important to make the most of the unique natural features and introduce them to visitors, as well as to create attractions that appeal to nature lovers and active tourists. The goal is to develop the existing active tourism network of the two municipalities.
What are they implementing, and where?
- Target areas: Csukma Hill (Siklós), Ördögszántotta Hill (Villány), the pilgrimage church in Máriagyűd and its surroundings, Templomhegy
Project completion date: May 31, 2027
Main activities:
- Construction of a lookout tower on Csukma Hill, complete with informational signs and a rest area
- Creation of the "Devil's Tear" Hiking Trail in Villány
- Renovation of the Templom Hill Lookout and the rest area located there
- Construction of a staircase from the Temple Hill Lookout to the Catholic Church
- Installation of bicycle rest areas, bike racks, and bicycle repair stations
- Accessibility solutions (audio and visual information)
- Developing tour itineraries
- Development of content for informational signs highlighting natural features
