BAT Hungary marked the completion of the second half of the construction of its new, state-of-the-art production facility in Pécs with a topping-out ceremony. The nearly 60 billion forint investment is not only a significant step forward for the company, but also an important milestone in the region’s industrial development, and clear evidence of BAT’s commitment to reducing the health impacts of its operations and contributing to the creation of a smoke-free world.
The 7,500-square-meter facility significantly increases BAT’s production capacity for tobacco-free nicotine pouches, offering adult smokers the opportunity to choose a scientifically-backed, less harmful* alternative. The expansion will create 450 new jobs in the region and further strengthen the Pécs plant’s strategic role in BAT’s global supply chain. Products manufactured here are currently exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
“This investment is more than just a capacity expansion; it further strengthens the key role of manufacturing in Hungary in achieving a smoke-free world. BAT’s goal is to provide less harmful* alternatives to 50 million adult consumers worldwide by 2030,” said Tamás Vargek, Managing Director of BAT Hungary.
This strategic investment will not only create new jobs in the Pécs region but also strengthen Hungary’s industrial competitiveness through state-of-the-art technologies and strong export potential.
“The plant’s manufacturing technology represents the highest level of innovation. Our goal is for the Pécs factory to become a true center of excellence within BAT’s global network,” said Shabab Ali, production director at BAT Hungary.
As one of the region’s largest employers, BAT Hungary is constantly recruiting for a variety of positions. The company offers competitive compensation packages and provides extensive career development and professional growth opportunities for all its employees.
