According to information provided by stakeholders associated with Pécs–Pogány Airport, significant progress has been made in preparations for the resumption of scheduled flights between Pécs and Munich. The goal is to launch the service in the spring of 2026, which could strengthen the region’s business accessibility and international network of connections.
Terms of Agreement and Planned Operations
According to the information made public, a memorandum of understanding sets out the intention to cooperate on launching the route: Irány Pécs Kft., Skyhub PAD GmbH, and Danish Air Transport (DAT), designated as the airline partner, are involved in the initiative.
According to current plans, the flight could operate twice a week to Munich; the exact schedule and ticket sales information are expected to be announced at a later date. According to an earlier press release, the flight could begin operating twice a week (on Mondays and Thursdays) starting at the end of March 2026; however, this detail has not yet been confirmed as the final schedule in the project’s official communications.
Why is the Pécs–Munich connection of strategic importance?
1) Improving
international business connectivity Direct air service can reduce travel time and organizational risks for companies operating in the region, particularly for business trips to the German market.
2) Connection to
a European transit hub: Given Munich’s role as a European hub, the flight—with the right connections—can indirectly expand the region’s international reach.
3) Investment Promotion and Tourism
Reliable air service improves the region’s “business accessibility,” which is often a key factor in decisions regarding the selection of a business location. In addition, the tourism and event offerings of Pécs and the Villány–Siklós region can be more easily promoted to the DACH region.
Important note: The project is currently in the preparatory phase
The announcement is currently at the level of a letter of intent, meaning that the detailed schedule, capacity, sales channels, and final operating conditions required to launch the service have not yet been made public. According to the airport, no scheduled flights are expected in 2025, but the goal is to restore regular service in 2026.
