Brief overview of the project
The Municipality of Bicsérd and the Baranya County Government Office, acting as a consortium, have been awarded a grant under the Regional and Municipal Development Operational Program Plus, TOP_PLUSZ-1.2.1-21-BA1, titled “Liveable Settlements.”
The purpose of the project, which was funded by the grant, was to expand the Bicsérd mayor’s office and add community facilities to it. The project helps strengthen community life in the town and improve the quality of local services.
As part of the project, the existing building was expanded: a new wing was constructed between the mayor’s office and the garage. A community room, a lobby, and restrooms were created on the ground floor, while a service room was built on the upper floor. As part of the development, a flat-roofed structure was built, and the building’s doors and windows were also modernized.
The Purpose and Significance of the Development
The primary goal of the project is to strengthen the ability of the village of Bicsérd to retain its population, encourage young people to stay in the area, and reduce out-migration. In the long term, the development will help make the town more attractive to families and those wishing to settle there.
The project also helps improve the quality of life for residents, enhances access to basic public services, and strengthens local community cohesion and a sense of identity.
Implementation
The building received its occupancy permit on April 1, 2026, making the renovated and expanded community space available to the town’s residents.
